Pedal your way through the charming city of Colombo at dusk and discover some of its iconic landmarks and hidden secrets. Join the safety briefing at 18.30hrs at Independence Square and get familiarized with the equipment. Brand new terrain type 17-inch aluminum frame branded bikes, equipped with front shocks, Shimano rapid shifters and V brakes await you. The bikes are outfitted with fire fly wheels, front lights and reflectors. Take a day to experience the irrigation & cultivation techniques of Sri Lanka, as you peddle through Polonnaruwa, the heart of paddy cultivation. Start off from Bendiwewa and ride through quaint villages and lush paddy fields, whilst enjoying local lore. Stop for a cool King Coconut and learn how every part of the Coconut is used by the locals. Ride along a gorgeous canal shaded by Arjun Trees and meet a local family and learn how to prepare a typical Sri Lankan Lunch. After Lunch ride to Giritale Dam and enjoy a chilled Arrack Cocktail to end the day.
Set sail in the evening, on a gorgeous 50ft Catamaran on a 3 hour Sunset Cruise through the most picturesque natural setting. The large sundeck features a trampoline for reclining and sun tanning, and the seats at the bow offer the best views of the gorgeous coastline. The open cockpit on the upper deck has cozy benches and cushions. Afterwards enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres & cocktails on deck while you take in the magnificent sunset from the southern-most tip of the island. You can choose to swim, snorkel, or paddle board before returning to port.
The second largest rainforest in the country, Kanneliya Rainforest is a habitat to 26 species of snakes, 32 species of butterflies, 30 species of birds and over 500 different varieties of trees, it is a living, breathing ecosystem of great importance. Begin your adventure by being picked up and taken into the forest to explore dark bat shelters before completely going off the beaten path. Once you get across a rickety bridge, you’ll watch the forest around you come to life around you, standing on top of a rocky waterfall. After cooling off in the sparkling water, enjoy a picnic prepared by your host.
Kayak along the southern coast of Sri Lanka through quiet lagoons and mangroves, relax and unwind as you take in the breath-taking views around you. The natural splendour of this coastal sanctuary will have you spellbound as you paddle by pristine beaches, charming fishing villages, whilst observing marine life in crystal-clear serene waters.
Start with a drive over the Pannai Bridge connecting the island of Kayts to the Jaffna peninsula. Visit Chatty beach, then drive down the road all the way to Kayts. Continue to the jetty at Punkuduthiv and take a ferry to Nagapooshani amman and Nagadeepa Buddhist temple in Nainativu. Many legends surround the Nagapoosani Amman temple, lore states it was built by the Nagas, a prehistoric tribe. Another legend states the temple was built by a merchant from the Chola kingdom of South India. The present structure was rebuilt by the Dutch after being destroyed by the Portuguese in 1620.
Rising to a height of 798 metres, you encounter a variety of fauna and flora and it is a special treat for bird watchers. Take a hike to the summit and take in the astounding panoramic views. On a clear day you see the entire Knuckles Range, the Dolosbage Range, Ura Kandha, and a glimpse of Asupini Ella Falls. After ample time for rest and photographs, descend along the Western Trail witnessing a completely different side to the rock. Make your way to the base and be greeted with cold towels and refreshing king coconut water.
Get picked up from your hotel in Kandy and dropped off to your bikes, 1 km away from the Ceylon Tea Museum to start the ride, enjoy ample breaks accompanied with refreshments. The traffic eases off as you reach the tea plantations allowing you to take in the amazing vistas around you. Continue on until the trail diverts to a gravel terrain. You will love riding on the exciting gravel route through verdant tea plantations. See tea-pluckers in action as you ride along the rocky trail of climbs and descends.
Start at 07.30hrs to Kota Ganga Ella, a cluster of cascading waterfalls in the Knuckles Mountain Range. The cluster of waterfalls lies deep in the jungle, with no proper established trails, and it is only accessible through trails known by locals of the region. There is no full view point to this cluster of waterfalls, and it can be reached from Thangappuwa village. The exquisite Fauna & Flora along the way makes for a magical experience.
